Yema was founded in 1948 by Henry Louis Belmont, a traditional watchmaker and pioneer of automation in the manufacture and construction of watches. Legend has it that the name of the brand was inspired by a student in a contest he organized…
Dating back to 1963, the Yema Superman was first developed for diving professionals (thanks to its 300-meter water resistance and “Patent Pending”). It is also equipped with a safety brake stop (or “Bezel Lock”) which gives it a unique look. Considered indestructible, the Superman was chosen at the time by the French Air Force to equip its pilots.
Many variations of this emblematic French manufactured model would follow to reach a wider audience. The model seen here is the legendary reference 24.11.7 with “Blue Sunray” dial.
