The famous DiaStar appeared in 1962, and it was a milestone and a great success for Rado. For the first time, hard metal was used to make the case. The hard metal, here in the form of tungsten carbide, is then 5 times harder than steel. Add a sapphire crystal cut like a precious stone, and Rado is resolutely ahead in 1962.
Here is a special edition piece to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the DiaStar in 2004. Something we can really appreciate, the piece is equipped with its original and signed Rado bracelet and has a dial decorated with nothing less of diamond hour markers.
