HEIST-OUT: ORIGINS
Because no dictatorships exist without dissidents, this also applies to watchmaking, let us introduce you to HEIST-OUT.
HEIST-OUT, a combination of “Iced Out” (referred to watches or jewellery fully set with diamonds) and “Heist”, is a new print magazine offering a loud and clear counterweight in the current watch industry. It is also a group of friends sharing the same convictions, with similar watchmaking tastes, mixing the noble with the cutting-edge, showing us indeed “another” world of watchmaking.
HEIST-OUT: THE PROJECT
Even if HEIST-OUT brings together the same group of friends and journalists around different subjects which we will detail later, we owe it to two protagonists: Maxime Couturier and Lorenzo Maillard.
Long-time friends, having worked together for several years within the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in Geneva, eager to embark on an important and large-scale project.
It was above all a cry from the heart. That of an industry, which even if it still enchants us, is starting to lack in originality of yesteryear, to give way to a smooth surface. If luxury saved watchmaking after the quartz crisis, it could also be the fatal blow to what makes each brand unique.
WHAT WILL YOU FIND IN ISSUE 1?
For this second publication, you will need to know how to read in two different directions.
The first, called “Quiet”, provides the basis without which dissidence has neither taste nor logic. A basis of traditional watchmaking, between stories, techniques, in-depth research, that everyone should have in mind before going any further.
The demonstration of Maxime and Lorenzo that “hard questioning” is not free, and cannot do without the presentation of world that fascinates us, by returning to the fundamentals of watchmaking.
