True innovation marked Certina in 1959 when the DS system (for “Double Security”) was created. The system consists of an elastic seal that surrounds the movement in the case, giving it a “floating” position to increase shock absorption capacity. DS would equip a few groups of explorers and evolve with increased tolerance to water pressure.
We have here a very nice Certina DS 2 with a beautiful brown patinated dial that seems almost like wood. We find hour markers and stick-shaped hands, quite typical of the 1970s, coupled with all tritium points intact.
A watch in beautiful condition and engraved at the bottom of the case with the famous turtle.
