THE TROPIC STRAP
THE TROPIC STRAP
A TIMELESS CLASSIC
The word “Tropic” is no longer a confidential term reserved for aficionados who wear their old Sub “like no other”.
For a few years now, it has almost become the Nato strap of the diving watch and the tool watch. All the better, it is a historical reference with a unique design that combines comfort, personality, elegance, and robustness.
Many qualities that we don’t come by every day when looking for a sports strap for our watch.
THE TROPIC STRAP
A BIT OF HISTORY
The symbol of deep sea exploration from the beginning of the 1960’s through the end of the 1970’s, the Tropic strap has equipped the most legendary dive watches.
It is indeed the official strap of the earliest Rolex Submariner, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, and Jaeger LeCoultre Memovox Deep Sea. Its distinctive design was also the privileged companion of the “Skindivers” of this remarkable period.
Created with natural rubber, the characteristics of the strap remain intact under water making it particularly suitable for scuba diving.
Its size does not budge, neither does its technical resistance. The strap will stay free from odours and humidity: features that it alone mastered during the 1960’s.
OUR TROPIC STRAP
THE REAL DIFFERENCE?
Unlike most other rubber and silicone versions today, the JOSEPH BONNIE Tropic strap is not just a sports strap.
Its thinness, shiny appearance and the extreme finesse of the details that make up its design, make it a strap that is as comfortable out of the water as it is under water.
No angle of its design protrudes, in order to recreate the warmth of an injected strap that would come out of a mould polished by the many passages.
It will perfectly enhance many watch case thicknesses with a unique style, whether it is a Memovox Deepsea or a classic Seiko SKX007.
OUR VERSION IN NATURAL RUBBER
LIKE BEFORE
–
Like its predecessor from the 1960’s, the Joseph Bonnie Tropic strap is made of vulcanised natural rubber.
A process using high temperatures where sulfur is incorporated into rubber to modify its structure.
Vulcanisation makes the rubber more resistant while retaining suppleness.
It also gives the material a lustrous sheen that immediately distinguishes it from silicone reproductions.
For that reason, we created our own mold to meet the challenge of an extremely detailed design.
THE DETAIL
THAT OTHERS DON’T HAVE
–
Clearly, this Tropic strap is ideal with any dive watch, from the most legendary and historical to the lesser known ones.
It also works very well on chronographs, sports watches, and a variety of other models like here on an 1969 Omega Speedmaster or a much younger one by SERICA.
An important detail: the crisscross pattern with its accentuated depth and finesse of the strap is continuous over its entire visible surface while on the wrist, thus creating no visual break at the level of the lug width.
What other straps definitely don’t do.
